Season 1 Recap [00:00]
Sirisha: Hello, everyone. This is Sirisha, and I'm really thrilled to be doing the season finale for our first season. We launched our podcast in August and it has been a very exciting journey. We've talked about a lot of different things, and I want to do a quick recap of all the key takeaways from the season. The first key takeaway especially with returning to work is to network, network, network.
"The first key takeaway for returning to work is to network, network, network."
Now, don't be intimidated by the word network. The Network is just having conversations with family, friends, with all colleagues, neighbours, with people from where you worship, anywhere. It's really to find out what their jobs are, how the job landscape has changed since you were last in the workforce and just to gather more information so you can position yourself to return to the workforce successfully.
The second takeaway is to take every interview that comes your way. Interviewing is like practice for a performance. So the more you interview, the better you will perform, in such a way that it will get you ready, to be successful at your dream job when it comes along.
"The second key takeaway is to take every interview that comes your way."
The third key takeaway is if you're thinking of your break in the future, start taking notes of all those critical instances or those moments that you want to capture in time. These living moments will help you and aid you when, especially you're thinking of returning to work.
" The third key takeaway is if you're thinking of your break in the future, start taking notes of all those critical moments that you want to capture in time."
The other topics we touched on were time management and productivity. The lesson and exercises you can do, that would really be beneficial, is doing the 168 hours. So this is essentially writing down in 15 to 30 minutes, to see where your time is going. Look at that and see how it parses out, you can then decide if you want to rearrange your schedule or see how to manage your time differently so that you can spend more time on the things that are most important to you and not on those that are not.
Last, I want to quickly touch upon career development and leadership. Whatever job you're doing, do a fantastic job at it. To be a good leader, command, respect, and take responsibility.
"Whatever job you're doing, do a fantastic job at it."
Next week, we'll have, just a quick medley of all our guests writing a note to that 21-year-old self. For our next season, we will be talking about mentorship and career development, and I'm really looking forward to the second season as it launches in January.
Wishing you all a happy holiday. Enjoy spending time with your family, friends, and the great outdoors. A happy new year. Look forward to connecting with you all next week. Ciao.
